THE RESULTS ARE IN: WORLD CUP OF PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTO CONTEST ANNOUNCES WINNERS


Photo Video West's World Cup of Photography Photo Contest Awards 56 Amateur and Professional Photographers Across the Globe

SAN DIEGO (April 22, 2013) Photo Video West, the West Coast's largest educational photo and video show, is proud to announce winners for the World Cup of Photography photo contest presented by Scan Diego and Werner Publishing, and sponsored by Photo Video West, Fast Forward Event Productions, the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA), Tamron USA, Delkin Devices, and Adobe Users Groups. The contest, which ran from January 15 – March 31, 2013, received 320 photo submissions worldwide in the amateur and professional divisions, said Ken Loyst, co-producer of Photo Video West.

"We are blown away by the results of this year's World Cup of Photography photo contest," added Loyst. "It was difficult to choose winners from each category when we received so many outstanding submissions from talented photographers across the globe. Congratulations to the top three category and grand prize winners. Their photographs speak volumes about their hard work and dedication to the craft."

Photographers competed in 18 categories in the amateur and professional divisions, including children, portrait, wedding, wildlife, landscape, still life, artistic, silhouette, and underwater. Over 56 winners were selected, including 18 first place category winners, 18 second place category winners, 18 third place category winners, and two grand prize winners.

Over $17,000 in cash and prizes was awarded to the World Cup of Photography contest winners. The grand prize winners for each division won $1,000 cash provided by Scan Diego, Tamron 18-270 PZD Lens, Adobe Master Collections, Delkin Devices 32GB Memory Card, Delkin Devices USB 2.0 Universal Multi-Card Reader/ Writer, Fat Gecko Triple Mount, Expo Imaging Rogue Master Lighting Kit, Expo Imaging 77mm Natural ExpoDisk, Expo Imaging Ray Flash, $500 in scanning services at Scan Diego, 20x24 Aluminum custom print at Scan Diego, 11x14 Aluminum custom print at Scan Diego, and two 24x36 8-color inkjet poster prints. In addition to the aforementioned prizes, the professional division grand prizewinner also received one year worth of 8x10 silver halide prints (12 prints per month). First place category winners took home a copy of Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop, Delkin Devices 32GB Memory Card and Delkin Devices USB 2.0 Universal Multi-Card Reader/ Writer. A portion of the proceeds from the photo contest benefitted the Museum of Photography Arts (MOPA) in San Diego.

All 56 winners' photographs will be showcased at this year's Photo Video West, April 27-28, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, California. Previously known as Photo Expo West, the new-and-improved Photo Video West returns with an added focus on videography, printing, framing, and mobile imaging. Part educational, part expo, attendees of Photo Video West have the opportunity to gain valuable education from the industry's top professionals, while exploring today's best brands, watching live interactive demos, and taking advantage of deals on cameras, gear and equipment on the showroom floor. Additionally, the show offers portfolio review sessions, allowing photo enthusiasts an opportunity to have their work reviewed by art and photography experts on the spot. Photo Video West takes place from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 27 and 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 28. Advance tickets for a one-day pass are $12 per person. For those who want to attend both days, weekend passes are available in advance for $20 per person. A portion of all ticket sales will benefit the Museum of Photography Arts (MOPA) in San Diego.
